You Deserve This: The Power of Wellness and Self-Care

Updated: Apr 25

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes... including you.” – Anne Lamott

"There is power in pausing. There is beauty in softening."

There have been times that I was tired—an indescribable kind of tired. Not just the kind that sits heavy in your bones, but one that tugs at your spirit. The best way I could explain it was to say: my soul was tired. And this wasn’t the kind of tired that rest alone could cure.

The healing I needed didn’t come from sleep. It came from being in places where love lived.

From slow mornings steeped in stillness to long conversations with people who truly see me, I learned something: reconnection was essential—not just with others, but with myself. And it was in those reconnections that I found the power to become whole again.

Wellness Is Not a Luxury—It’s a Lifeline

Let’s be honest—life can be loud. It moves fast, demands more than it gives, and often leaves us running on empty. Especially for women who carry so much, hold so many roles, and wear so many masks.

But what if you gave yourself the same care you so freely give to others?

Self-care isn’t always about candles and spa days (though those are lovely too). Sometimes, it’s choosing silence. Saying no. Unplugging. It’s turning inward—not because you’re broken, but because you’re human.

A Gentle Reminder

There is no shame in needing rest. There is no guilt in choosing yourself. There is no weakness in wanting peace.

"I needed to be held by love. That's when the healing began."
"I needed to be held by love. That's when the healing began."

Let This Be Your Permission

There is power in pausing. There is beauty in softening. And there is healing in simply being where love lives.

I boarded a plane, not for a vacation, but to be in the presence of those who loved me. I needed to be held by love. That’s when the healing began.

Because isolation is the enemy of connection—a basic human need. We all need to feel loved. But that love starts within.

When you love yourself fully, you begin to recognize whether someone else’s actions are rooted in love or merely the illusion of it. This discernment applies in both romantic and platonic relationships.

So sit with this. Let it settle in your soul. Let it speak to the parts of you that are still tired.
